MSU Mobility to Participate in Motor Bella, Sept. 21-22

What: MSU will highlight its latest mobility research initiatives and activities as part of AutoMobili-D during Motor Bella. Technology displays and presentations will include a dual-band antenna that operates at cellular and C-V2X frequencies, embedded sensors, analysis of connected vehicle events relate to crash data patterns and more. Additionally, there will be an interactive game that leverages MSU’s sophisticated algorithm work. The game, like the retro arcade game Frogger, simulates the way autonomous vehicles sense movement and how people will interact with these types of vehicles, with the screen demonstrating pedestrians crossing the street.

MSU Mobility is exhibiting as part of University Research Corridor (URC), which is a cluster of three public institutions including MSU, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University.

When: 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 and Wednesday, Sept. 22

Where: The URC will have four total booths (booths 211 through 214) thanks to a sponsorship from Magna at Motor Bella’s AutoMobili-D (M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan).

Who: MSU graduate students and more than a dozen mobility-focused faculty members, including Satish Udpa, Interim Director of MSU Mobility and University Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering.

Panel participation: In addition to the booth experience, Udpa will participate in a 30-minute URC panel discussion at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 22 at the AutoMobili-D stage. Panelists will discuss sustainable mobility and electrification: innovating solutions to global challenges. The session will be moderated by Michigan Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist and convened by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
